Evelyn Evelyn Kick Off First-Ever US Tour Today!

Evelyn Evelyn, the world’s only conjoined twin singer-songwriter duo “discovered” by Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls and renowned minstrel Jason Webley, have released their debut album and will be touring the US beginning May 17. From the vaudevillian tracks “Have You Seen My Sister Evelyn?” and the quirky “Elephant Elephant” to the menacing country-tinged love ballad “You Only Want Me ‘Cause You Want My Sister” and the ukulele rendition of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” the record will suck you into the world and saga of the Evelyn sisters.

In concert, the Evelyn sisters harmonize and alternate vocals while accompanying themselves on piano, accordion, guitar, ukulele and even a bit of percussion. In addition to the twins’ performances, circus composer, Sxip Shirey will open each night and Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley will each perform sets of their solo material to finish out the evening.

The Mohawk Lodge Announce Album “Crimes” and Tour Dates

We are delighted to announce that our friends, Toronto-based rock band THE MOHAWK LODGE, will be hitting the road soon in support of their highly anticipated album. Their record, ‘CRIMES,’ will be released on June 22nd by White Whale Records.

CRIMES–the third album from White Whale Records founder Ryder Havdale’s band The Mohawk Lodge–is partially about the feeling of punching out a friend for f**king your girlfriend (a crime Havdale himself did a little time for), but, more about crimes of the heart in general. It’s a record that runs the gamete of loneliness and pain and somehow finds a little light at the end of the tunnel: a tunnel that ended with Havdale and his label moving to Toronto this past year.

CRIMES started out like its precursor, the acclaimed “WILDFIRES”, in a cabin in Pt. Robert’s, WA with Arch, Cory Price, Rob Josephson and Paul Goertzen laying down the magic and Jordan Koop making sure it all sounded right: a few other people came and sang their hearts out: Leah Abramson, Dan Mangan, JP Carter, Larissa Tandy, Megan McDonald and Jay Arner.

Those initial recordings would’ve been the record, until the track ‘Cold Hearts’ ended up getting lyrically re-worked in the back seat of a van over a bottle of wine by Eamon McGrath. It was the day after a month-long European tour and Eamon and Ryder headed straight to Darryl Neudorf’s (Neko Case) studio to lay it down. Darryl played the drums and ‘Cold Hearts’, along with the freshly penned ‘Faster Than You Can’, came together live off the floor in a total of 2 hours; before rushing straight to the airport.

Going on crazy chaotic musical missions is one of Havdale’s favorite things to do and the band is about to set out on 4 months of shows including a month through Europe. There is also a video in the works for every song, to be released once a month for the next year.

The Mohawk Lodge has shared the stage with Constantines, Japandroids, Besnard Lakes, Chad VanGaalen, Athlete, Handsome Furs, Blood Meridian, Adam Franklin, and Apostle of Hustle to name a few.

Acclaimed indie dream-pop group SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS will release the latest single from their forthcoming album Disconnect from Desire on June 1st. “Windstorm” was premiered on Pitchfork Media earlier today and will be available via all digital carriers.

In support of the new album, which arrives July 13th on Vagrant/Ghostly International, the three-piece will play a show at the Echo in Los Angeles on June 2nd, followed by two nights at New York City’s Mercury Lounge. Tour dates below.

The band’s new album, produced by band member Benjamin Curtis and mixed by Jack Joseph Puig, was recorded in the band’s home studio and mixed in Los Angeles at Ocean Way Recording. Disconnect from Desire is a tremendous leap forward for the band musically, evident in all elements of their intricate and multi-layered sound. Further, the unique experience of playing live allowed them to step out of their sometimes-insular creative process, and to discover and explore a newfound connectivity with listeners. This connection to the external world is reflected throughout the new album and indicative of the trio’s development.
SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS, composed of Benjamin Curtis and identical twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza, released their debut album Alpinisms in 2008. Paste Magazine called it “a psychedelic excursion anchored by beautiful, winding melodies and entrancing synth backdrops as bright and buoyant as a wall of clouds.” They have also been featured in the pages of Rolling Stone, Spin, Details, the NME and others. The band has since toured with Blonde Redhead and Bat For Lashes, among others.

Athens, GA trio THE WHIGS are very excited to announce a massive tour that will include a headlining run and opening slots with Kings of Leon, The Hold Steady and The Black Keys. Beginning June 4th at Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY, these 3-months of dates come in support of the band’s latest album, IN THE DARK, which saw the band perform on the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In addition, the band will embark on a USO tour to Germany and the UK from today, May 17th – May 25th.
